We’re nearing the end of the 12.5 update! There are mixed opinions on 12.6 so far, after it was revealed it would be F1 2024 today. Hopefully there’s more than just 10 LTS that hog events through December. But we still have one week left of this update, and this week will be intense!
We are at Silverstone GP for the third time this year, to add to previous visits in February and April! Lap times will be similarly fast in the Hennessey Venom F5, but given this car is an absolute speed demon, despite decent handling for a car of its like, it will be very tricky to get a good time in it. If you want an easier car, the McLaren P1 GTR will be capable of at least a semi-decent result, though the same probably can’t be said about the 2012 Aston Martin Vantage GTE.
Performance wise, the Venom will be best. This comes to no surprise, as it has a near-record speed advantage over the competition, with the statistical best top speed in the game, with all stats bar braking being best or near best. Stopping the Venom will be the primary issue, of course. On the other hand, brakes are the strength of the P1 GTR, which has excellent 21m brakes when fully upgraded. It also has great handling for a car of its time, and the joint-best acceleration of the three. However, it does not have the straight line speed compared to the Venom, which might just put it out of A (unfortunately for those who expected A in the P1 GTR, I couldn’t put it together). The 2012 Vantage GTE can’t get anywhere near the Venom’s speed either, despite having the best top speed in the game for a GTE car. What also lets that car down is its handling. As one of the early race-spec Aston Martin’s added, it shares unusually sensitive steering with the Vantage GT3, meaning you may need to turn your steering sensitivity down or accommodate for it. The other thing that does is make the car more slip prone. I expect it to be around 8-10 seconds off the pace, and be able to get D at best.

This week’s sale is 40% off the Hennessey Venom F5. Its last sale was 50% off during this year’s New Year’s sales.
Purchase price: 600 gold
R$ Upgrades (1111111): R$443,820
Series Upgrades (5344333/5343433): R$1,829,640 and 612 gold (both have the same cost)
Fully Upgraded (6444433): R$1,829,640 and 1,095 gold
Series Upgrades -> Fully Upgraded (5344333/5343433 -> 6444433): 483 gold
With the Exclusive Series paying 175 gold, the net cost to FU from series upgrades is 308 gold.
This car has two series, Full Throttle Free-For-All and its Exclusive Series, paying 79 and 175 gold respectively, adding up to 254 gold total. This assumes base completion, and that the Bugatti Chiron Sport and Koenigsegg Agera RS are owned.
Some find this an amazing car for its insane speed, others despise it for that reason and the fact that all that speed makes it hard to stop. Personally, I find myself in both courts sometimes; I can have a very fun time at some tracks (RBR, Silverstone so far), but other tracks (primarily Spa) I can’t handle it at all. That aside, I do not recommend buying this car, as is usual for more expensive gold cars, as the likelihood of a third flashback is elevated due to it being the car it is. It is also not the best discount in the world for a car like this, but upgrading in WTT is the best opportunity to cut the net cost of upgrading lower.

Last Appearance for this variant in WTT: April 15th-22nd, 2024, Week 2 v12.3
Trivia: Lap times this week may be very similar to the Pagani Huayra R in April. In fact, they might be a bit slower despite the drifting advantage for the Venom F5.

This week started on August 5th/6th and will end on August 12th/13th. This is the final week of the 12.5 update, and hence it will end four hours earlier than usual, at 8pm UTC rather than the usual midnight UTC.
This week’s OMP sale is 40% off the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25. Its last sale was 35% off at this time last year. While I find this car a lot of fun, I understand that like the regular Clubsport, it is naturally overshadowed by the overpowered regular GT2 RS. Still, the acceleration at higher upgrades gives a great sense of speed. It is an expensive car though, so I'll leave the question of upgrading open to interpretation.
All the best for this week everyone!
